Bethany Presbyterian Church
Founded in 1910 and affiliated with the Presbytery of Rochester in 1929, Bethany Presbyterian Church has served the people of Greece and Rochester, Monroe County, the Presbytery of Genesee Valley and the world-wide mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for over 85 years.
Our congregation has a rich history of giving to retain a vital ministry. The Women's Aid Society made the mortgage payments on the 1932 building. In 1952, the current sanctuary was built with the Education Building being added in 1956. The Holtkamp pipe organ was installed in 1967. In 1976 the Clark Entrance and elevator were Church Today added. In 1989 a $450,000 capital campaign was undertaken to add a steeple and to make major renovations, including reconfiguration of the narthex, parlor, library and basement meeting rooms. An 1838 bell was installed in the steeple and the oak and glass wall separating the sanctuary from the narthex was created.
Bethany has been involved in a number of community outreach ministries for quite some time. In 1994 the church initiated the Two Doors Community Center, which is primarily an after-school program for children in the neighborhood. Bethany continues to participate in Habitat for Humanity projects, and Bethany members are very active in the Greece Food Shelf as well.
